La Curatte is Simon Gastrein's Gamay cuvée and is called after the single isolated vineyard plot located a few minutes south of the appellation Côte Rôtie.
On the nose, this wine is highly inviting. It reveals notes of raspberry, blackcurrant cream, prune, and a hint of cinnamon. A very noble vegetal touch emerges, providing a lot of freshness to the overall bouquet. The palate is silky and delicately enticing. The Gamay grape showcases all its finesse and deliciousness, unfolding flavours of Morello cherries, star anise, a hint of licorice, and a touch of mint.
This cuvée genuinely bridges the gap between the great Gamays of the Beaujolais Crus and the Rhône Nord's Syrahs grown on granite soils.
