Colombard might be a stranger to you and yet it is nothing else bu the offspring of the famous Chenin Blanc ! Used to make Cognac in Gascony, this variety can also produce delicious wine when it grows in poor soils.
What a nose, it feels like opening a box of liquorice allsorts 🇬🇧 which would have guava, yellow apple and vanilla flavoured sweets. The first sip gives generous golden apple and kiwi juice, vanilla ice cream with a zest of lemon. Long finish that keeps on giving.
For pairing, think sunny day, terrasse and some crispy gossips.
