‘Les Vignes de Trigny’ sports an exotic label with a distinct Vietnamese vibe, inspired by a life-changing trip Fabien took a few years back. But this Champagne is exotic for an extremely nerdy reason that’ll thrill Champagne geeks: it comes from the Petite Montagne de Reims, yet it’s a Chardonnay planted on a terroir typically reserved for Pinot Meunier.
Right from the start, the wine stands out with its intense yet delicate bubbles and its sharp, chalky mouthfeel. Lemon and grapefruit are tastebuds' pleasers. What I find most impressive about this Champagne is its razor-sharp structure—precise, balanced, and measured down to the last millilitre. It’s like a suit that stands out because of its impeccable cut, rather than any flashy frills.
